If you linked your tweets on Twitter to Facebook and wish you hadn’t, there’s a simple solution that will allow you to correct this problem with a great alternative. Or, if you want to share only selective tweets, here’s what to do.
First, if you linked all tweets to Facebook and wish you hadn’t, let’s “undo” the automatic feed from Twitter to Facebook.
1. From Facebook, click on Settings and then select Application Settings.
2. Scroll down the list of applications to the Twitter application. Click on Edit Twitter Settings and then click on Never publish stories from Twitter.
3. Now test it by logging in to your Twitter account and send out a tweet. Check your Facebook account to make sure no Tweets are posting to your Facebook page.
I recommend this because at times Facebook fails (I know, that’s surprising!) and when it does, the update setting change just doesn’t work. If that happens, just complete the above steps a second time.
Now, the good news is – there is a better way to share ONLY the tweets you want to show up on your facebook page! I love this feature!
Use the “Selective Twitter” application on Facebook. This allows you to select only the tweets you would like to share on Facebook with a simple hashtag.
First, simply go to http://apps.facebook.com/selectivetwitter and install the free app. Then, add #fb to the end of any tweet you wish to be added as a Facebook Status Update. Now only the tweets with a #fb at the end will show up on your Facebook.
Voila!
You can now share information from Twitter to Facebook, only when you want to. Truly the best of both social worlds.
